Zion Lateef Williamson born July 6, 2000, is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays the position of power forward. He was drafted 1st overall by the Pelicans in his 2019 NBA Draft after spending his first year with the Blues. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020. In 2021, he became the fourth youngest NBA player to be selected for the All-Star Game.

Born in Salisbury, North Carolina, Williamson began his career at Spartanburg Day. He led the team to their third consecutive state championship and earned his Mr. Basketball certification from South Carolina during his senior season. Williamson also graduated from high school as a McDonald’s All-American, a Mr. Basketball USA runner-up, and a USA Today All-USA First Team winner.

In his first and only season at Duke, Williamson was named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Athlete of the Year, and ACC Rookie of the Year

. He set the school’s scoring record in one game in January 2019, his freshman year, and was named ACC Rookie of the Week five times. He was also named AP Player of the Year and Sporting News College Player of the Year. Winner.
