Ike Ekweremadu’s wife was arrested recently in the case of alleged organ harvesting.

The former Nigerian Deputy Senate Ike Ekweremadu was charged with organ trafficking along with his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu. The couple was charged for the case on June 23, 2022.

The allegation against the couple is the facilitation of the travel of a minor into the United Kingdom for organ trafficking. However, the couple has denied the allegations and claims that they are innocent.

Ike and his wife appeared in the Uxbridge Magistrate Court on 23 June 2022. In the court, their lawyer requested the bail of the couple. However, their request for bail was denied by the court.

The allegation against them is that they are said to have brought a 15-years-old homeless boy to the UK from the streets of Lagos. However, their lawyer in the court denied that his clients didn’t make any arrangements for the transportation of anyone for exploitation.

On June 23, 2022, the couple was arrested and detained by the Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police in London. The police started an inquiry after the police received a tip in May 2022 about the possible violation of modern slavery legislation.

The couple’s lawyer Antonia Gray is positive about her clients. She said that her clients have never done anything wrong about the case they are alleged for.

The case was requested to be adjourned for fourteen days by the prosecutor. Through that request, the case was adjourned by Uxbridge Magistrate Court to July 7, 2022.

According to channelstv.com, Ekweremadu’s child is suffering from a kidney problem and is in need of a kidney transplant. The child was reportedly brought to the UK for the investigation of the kidney matches or not.

However, the donor’s kidney didn’t match Ike’s daughter. The donor was scheduled to return to Nigeria but he refused and reported to the police instead to seek asylum.
