Who are Charles Stanley’s Grandchildren? Meet Andrew, Garrett, Allison – Charles Frazier Stanley, an American Baptist pastor, and writer was widely known for his sermons and teachings on Christianity.
He served as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia for almost five decades, from 1971 to 2020, and was a respected figure in the Southern Baptist Convention.
Charles Stanley’s influence extended beyond his church and denomination through In Touch Ministries, an organization he founded in 1977 with a mission to spread the Gospel and strengthen local churches. The ministry quickly gained popularity, reaching people across the globe through its half-hour religious television program called “The Chapel Hour,” which aired in 1972.
The Christian Broadcasting Network began airing the show in 1978, and since then, it has been translated into 50 languages and broadcasted on approximately 500 radio stations and 300 television stations in the United States alone. In Touch also publishes a magazine and offers audio and video programming on its website.
Charles Stanley’s teachings covered a wide range of topics, from personal finance and parenting to emotional and relationship issues. He believed fervently in the inerrancy of the Bible, and his writings and broadcasts reflect this belief. In 1985, he was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention, a position he held for two terms from 1984 to 1986.
In addition to his preaching and writing, Charles Stanley was also known for his willingness to engage with his audience through Q&A segments. He launched “Bring It Home,” a segment that aired after his sermons, to answer questions from listeners and help them better understand his teachings. In 2007, he introduced his “30 Life Principles,” which became a regular feature of his TV and radio programs.
In 2020, Stanley retired as senior pastor of First Baptist Church and assumed the role of pastor emeritus, but continued his work with In Touch Ministries. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to spreading the Gospel and helping people build a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
His cause of death was not released at the time of this report, however, considering his age, he might have died of natural causes. He died on April 18, 2023, at his home.
