Alex Karaban is the son of Alexei Karaban (father) and Olga Karaban (mother). His father, originally from Belarus is a software engineer while his mother, originally from Ukraine is a physical therapist.

He attended Algonquin Regional High School and then transferred to the New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire after his freshman year.
