Juan Carlos Ferrero Donat is a Spanish former World No. 1 tennis player.

He stands at a height of 6 feet 0 inches (1.83 m) tall.

Born in Ontinyent, Spain, Ferrero began playing tennis at age 7 with his father, Eduardo Ferrero who usually traveled with him.

Ferrero made his professional debut in 1998 by reaching the finals of his first Futures tournament in Italy. He also won two Futures events in Spain and ranked No. 345 that year.

Ferrero won the men’s singles title at the 2003 French Open and emerged as world number one in the ATP ranking. He became the 21st player to hold the top ranking – for eight weeks.

Following the 2012 Valencia Open, Ferrero nicknamed “Mosquito” retired from professional tennis.

Ferrero was the best clay specialist in his early years and the predecessor of Nadal in Spain. One of the most salient aspects of Ferrero’s gameplay was his aggressive style of playing as well as immense speed. The Spaniard was extremely astute with regard to executing forehands, making him an all-court and all-round player.

In his 14-year career as a tennis player, Ferrero won 16 titles, 1 Grand Slam, 4 Masters Series, 2 ATP 500, and 9 ATP 250.

Ferrero was even an iconic campaigner for Spain, leading the nation on to triumphs in three editions of the Davis Cup (2000, 2004 and 2009).
