Vanessa Hau Mdee was born on the 7th of June, 1988 in Arusha, Tanzania. There is no available information with regards to her parents. However, she has an elder sister by the name, Nancy Namtero Tero Mdee.

Vanessa reportedly spent most of her early childhood in different places including New York, Paris, Nairobi and Arusha.

As per her educational background, Vanessa completed her secondary and high school-level education at the Arusha Modern High School before proceeding to the Catholic University of Eastern Africa to pursue a Law degree.

Vanessa rose into the limelight following her works in the entertainment. She made history as the first Tanzanian to be a VJ for MTV after she had auditioned for MTV’s VJ Search in 2007.

Vanessa, however, earned her most significant breakthrough as she debuted into the music industry in late 2012. She released her first single ‘Closer’ early in 2013 which took the Tanzanian music industry by storm after it charted for 13 straight weeks.
