Tara Setmayer is known for her role as a political analyst on the international news channel CNN. She also contributes to several prime-time news programs on different platforms, including The View and Good Morning America on the ABC and Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

As a political activist, Setmayer was a member of the board of directors of the Stand Up Republic, a nonprofit organization formed following the 2016 U.S. presidential elections to champion national democracy. She is also featured on ABC News as a guest analyst.

Tara Olivia Setmayerwas born on September 9, 1975 in Queens, New York. She is biracial; her mother is Caucasian with European roots and her father is an African American. Setmayer identifies as a “woman of color” but not as African American.

The media personality grew up in Paramus, a borough of Bergen County in northern New Jersey. She had her high school education at Paramus High School in New Jersey and graduated in 1993. For her college education, she studied at George Washington University in Washington D.C. She graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science policies.

Despite growing up among a Democratic majority, Setmayer proved to be a staunch conservative. She’s a bold and confident analyst known for her “tell it like it is” style of commentary. She describes herself as a “sensible conservative” and is widely seen as an outspoken critic of the President of the United States, the Donald Trump administration.

Prior to her television career, Tara Setmayer served as communications director on Capitol Hill to California GOP Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (2006-2013). She has also taken an interest in immigration and law enforcement issues. During this time, she worked tirelessly to secure the release of wrongfully imprisoned US Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

Setmayer also served as a resource person for the Republican state and local political training organization GOPAC. She has also served as a research fellow and communications expert for the Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education (CURE), a DC-based conservative political organization.

Her career as a political contributor has seen her feature in several news programs on Fox News Channel, ABC, HBO, PBS and C-SPAN. All of these roles have equipped her to function as a credible expert on matters pertaining to US politics. From 2013 to 2014, Tara Setmayer served as co-host of the evening news show on The Blaze TV. She has also been featured as a guest host on the SiriusXM satellite/online radio network.

Tara Setmayer joined CNN in 2014. Her Family – Parents and Husband

Tara Setmayer’s mother, Jacquelyn Setmayer, is half-Italian and half-German. There is little information about his father except that he is from Guatemala. She was raised by her mother in Paramus, New Jersey. His mother’s family had lived in Paramus for ages. His maternal grandfather, Emil Setmayer, was an officer with the Paramus Police Department before his retirement.

Tara Setmayer is currently married to Marcelle L’amour. The couple tied the knot on September 4, 2013 in a private ceremony at Castello di Caccamo in the Italian coastal town of Sicily. Just like her father, there is little information about her husband Marcelle in the public domain, however, we do know that he is a law enforcement officer. The couple live in New York City.
