Biography of Scott Adams
Scott Raymond Adams, also known as Scott Adams, was born in Windham, New York, on June 8, 1957. He is Virginia and Paul Adams’ son. Scott has Scottish, English, German, Irish, and Dutch ancestry. He was a major Peanuts comics fan from a young age. Charles M. Schulz, a well-known cartoonist, served as his inspiration as he began drawing his own comics at the young age of six. Scott won his first drawing contest at the age of eleven.
After being turned down by multiple art colleges, he decides to pursue law. He received his diploma from Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School in 1975. Also, he had earned a bachelor’s in economics from Hartwick College. After graduating, he came to the conclusion that his skills were best used as an entrepreneur.
He began working at Crocker National Bank in San Francisco after receiving his degree. For eight years, he was employed there. He was held twice at gunpoint when he was enrolled in the management training program. He held a variety of jobs over his working years, including those of computer programmer, supervisor, commercial lender, budget analyst, and product manager.

He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Master of Business Administration in economics and management in 1986. His former supervisor served as the inspiration for the name of the character he invented while still in college, dubbed Dilbert.
He began working for the telephone company Pacific Bell in 1986. He was inspired by others around him at work to create the cartoon character Dilbert. His Dilbert was initially printed by United Media in 1989. People adored his work, and Dilbert gained popularity over time.
400 newspapers published Dilbert in 1994. Following the success of Dilbert, Scott started working as a cartoonist full-time. In 1996, Scott published “The Dilbert Principle,” his debut business book.
