Nick Riewoldt Wife: Meet Catherine Heard
Nick Riewoldt Wife: Meet Catherine Heard – Nick Riewoldt started at Robina State Primary School in Grade 5 and rose through the ranks to become the school’s vice captain and UNICEF representative. During his high school years, he transferred to All Saints Anglican School.
Australian legislation Football was not offered in many Queensland schools at the time, but he established himself as an all-around athlete, excelling in the school’s athletics, cross country, cricket, soccer, and touch football teams. He excelled academically in physics and chemistry as well.
He began his junior and early senior football career with the Broadbeach Cats before jo ining the Southport Sharks as an outstanding junior talent. He was a key figure in Southport’s historic fourth consecutive QAFL championship in 2000.
After being largely untouchable in the first half, he was moved into the ruck and kicked two crucial goals in the 11-point grand final victory.
He grew up rooting for the Hawthorn Football Club. He is the first cousin of Richmond footballer and forward Jack Riewoldt.
He was selected first overall in the 2000 AFL Draft and made his debut in 2001. In 2002, he won the AFL Rising Star Award after being nominated in round 5 for his efforts in a drawn match against Sydney.
In 2004, he set an AFL record with 256 marks and finished in the top ten for both the Coleman and Brownlow medals. He won the AFL Players Association Most Valuable Player Award, as well as the Leigh Matthews Trophy, and was named to the All-Australian team for the first time in 2004.
St Kilda rewarded him for his efforts in 2004 by naming him club captain for 2005 as part of their rotating captaincy policy.
His 2005 season got off to a bad start when he broke his collarbone in the third quarter of the season opener against the Brisbane Lions.
This sparked outrage because he was then bumped by Lions players Chris Scott and Mal Michael following his injury.
The pair were not charged with misconduct for targeting an injured player because it was determined that they would not have known Riewoldt was injured, that Riewoldt had waved away a trainer who was attending to the injury, and that the bumps did not contribute to the injury.
On 9 April 2010, Riewoldt suffered a high-grade hamstring tear during St Kilda’s 28-point Round 3 win over Collingwood. He had surgery and returned to the field in Round 15, scoring 39 goals in 15 games.
Riewoldt announced his resignation as St Kilda captain on September 1, 2016, at the Saints’ best-and-fairest awards night.
On July 31, 2017, Riewoldt announced his retirement at the end of the season. In his final game, he had 15 disposals, 8 marks, and 1 goal in a loss to his cousin’s team, the Richmond Tigers, in Round 23.
A 17-year-old girl posted a photo of Riewoldt in his underwear on the social networking site Facebook on December 20, 2010. The girl, whose name was initially withheld in the media due to her age, claimed that her actions were motivated by unfair treatment by the AFL in relation to an incident earlier in the year in which she claimed she became pregnant as a result of having sex with two St Kilda players after a school football clinic.
