In 2018, Dunlap took home the Alabama State Junior Championship. In addition to winning the Boy’s Junior PGA Championship and the Junior Players Championship in 2021, he finished second in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship in 2020.

He took home the Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship (2021), the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship (2021), and the American Junior Golf Association’s (AJGA) Polo Golf Junior Classic (2021).

Dunlap’s victory gave him the first Alabaman to win the U.S. Junior Amateur title and earned him a pass to the U.S. Open in 2022. After that, he was recognized as the AJGA Boys Golfer of the Year for 2021.

Dunlap, who is ranked as the top junior golfer in the class of 2022 by Golfweek, committed to play golf for the Alabama Crimson Tide and study finance at the University of Alabama.

During his rookie season, in March 2023, Dunlap won his first individual collegiate victory at the Linger Longer Invitational. He went on to win the North and South Amateur in July, as well as the Northeast Amateur in June.

August 2023 saw Dunlap win the U.S. Amateur. In the stroke play phase, he started the opening seven holes five over par but came back to make the cut.

To get to the final and win the title, he overcame Neal Shipley 4 & 3 after defeating Gordon Sargent in the first round of match play.

With this victory, Dunlap joined Tiger Woods as the only other golfer in history to have won both the U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Amateur Championships. Dunlap won the U.S. Amateur title, and he went on to represent his country in the 2023 Walker Cup and Eisenhower Trophy.

Dunlap finished second in the Eisenhower Trophy individual stroke play in 2023, with the United States winning both titles.

Dunlap was granted a sponsor’s exemption to compete in The American Express on the PGA Tour in January 2024. He tied Patrick Cantlay’s record for the lowest round by an amateur on the PGA Tour with a 12-under 60 in the third round. Dunlap led by three shots going into the last round as a result.

Dunlap won the tournament by one stroke with a 2-under final-round score. With his victory at the Tucson Open in 1991, he became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since Phil Mickelson.

As an amateur, Dunlap was not entitled to the $1,512,000 first prize money; instead, it went to Christiaan Bezuidenhout, the runner-up.
