Frankie Dettori’s Sons: Meet Leo Dettori And Rocco Dettori: Born on December 15, 1970, Frankie Dettori, officially known as Lanfranco Dettori is an Italian horse racing jockey based in the United Kingdom.

He developed a passion for horse racing at a younger age and has been consistent throughout his career rising through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after horse racers.

His first experience with horses was at the age of twelve when his father bought him a Palomino pony.

At the age of 13, Dettori left school to become a stable boy and apprentice jockey. Subsequently, he went to Great Britain, where he became an apprentice for trainer Luca Cumani and soon became a stable jockey.

In December 2012, he was suspended from riding for six months after being found guilty of taking a prohibited substance believed to be cocaine.

Earlier in 2013, Dettori participated in the British reality show, Celebrity Big Brother and was the fifth to be evicted on the eleventh series of the reality show.

After serving his six-month ban, he made his racing comeback at Epsom on 31 May 2013 and a week later, he won his first race riding Asian Trader at Sandown.

From June 2013 to July 2018, Dettori was the retained rider in Britain for Sheikh Joaan Al Thani’s Al Shaqab Racing.

By the end of the 2017 season, he had ridden more than 3,000 winners in Great Britain, over 750 more than the next currently active jockey.

In December 2022, Dettori announced his intention to retire as a jockey after a career spanning over 35 years stating that 2023 would be his final year of professional riding.

In May 2023, Detorri won his final 2000 Guineas Stakes aboard 7/2 second-favorite Chaldean. He’s set to retire from professional horse racing at the end of 2023.

He has been British flat racing Champion Jockey three times and has ridden the winners of more than 500 Group races. This includes 20 winners of the English classics.

Frankie Dettori has been blessed with five children; three daughters named; Ella Dettori, Tallula Dettori, and Mia Dettori, and two sons known as Leo Dettori, and Rocco Dettori.
