Marc Tessier-Lavigne Children: Meet His 3 Children: Marc Tessier-Lavigne, officially known as Marc Trevor Tessier-Lavigne is a Canadian-American neuroscientist.

At the time of this writing (Friday, July 21, 2023), he serves as the 11th president of Stanford University, a private research university in Stanford, California.

Previously, Tessier-Lavigne was a professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and then president of Rockefeller University in New York City.

He’s credited with breakthrough research into the cause of Alzheimer’s disease and is a member of the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund’s Scientific Advisory Board.

Tessier-Lavigne was formerly the executive vice president for research and chief scientific officer at Genentech.

As of 2021, the renowned neuroscientist is part of the boards of directors of Denali Therapeutics and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.

Tessier-Lavigne is also a member of the scientific advisory boards of Denali Therapeutics and Agios Pharmaceuticals.

For the past few months, he has been in the news following an investigation by Stanford University into allegations of his involvement in fabricating results

In 2022, the University opened investigations into allegations of Tessier-Lavigne’s involvement in fabricating results in articles published between 2001 and 2008.

In July 2023, the investigative report was released by a special committee of Stanford’s Board of Trustees.

Following the release of the report, Tessier-Lavigne hit major headlines after he announced on Wednesday, July 19 that he would be stepping down as president of Stanford.

His resignation which was announced in an open letter to the University, will be effective on August 31, 2023 though he will remain on the Stanford faculty.

In a statement, Tessier-Lavigne said that he was cleared of “any fraud or falsification of scientific data” but that “for the good of the University, I have made the decision to step down as President effective August 31.”

His resignation comes after he learned the investigation results into his past research confirmed data manipulation in scientific papers that he co-authored and found that he took insufficient steps to correct them.
