Luis Urías siblings-Mexican professional baseball infielder, Luis Fernando Urías Figueroa was born on June 3, 1997.

Urias was born in Magdalena de Kino, Mexico to María Trinidad Figueroa Esquer and Ramón Urías. His older brother is Ramón Urías Jr.

He played for the Milwaukee Brewers before making his MLB debut for the San Diego Padres. Urias plays for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Luis Urías career

In December 2013, Urías agreed to terms with the San Diego Padres as an unrestricted foreign free agent. He made his professional debut in 2014 with the Rookie League Dominican Summer League Padres before being promoted to the Rookie League Arizona League Padres after two games.

Over the course of 45 games with both teams, he split his time between second base and third base and hit.297 with 14 runs batted in (RBIs), posting his first professional average.

He participated in the Mexican Pacific Winter League’s Yaquis de Obregón during the winter of 2014–15, batting.158 in 12 games.

He participated in 61 games for the Class A Tri-City Dust Devils and Class A Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2015, batting.299 with a combined total of 17 RBIs and no home runs.

He played once again for the Yaquis de Obregón of the Mexican Pacific Winter League in the winter of 2015–16, batting.280 with no home runs and 11 RBIs in 36 games.

Urías spent most of 2016 playing for the Class A+ Lake Elsinore Storm, for whom he batted in 120 games.330 with 52 RBIs, a.397 OBP, five home runs (his first in the minor leagues), and a.836 OPS.

He filled in for players who were chosen for the All-Star Futures Game in three games for the El Paso Chihuahuas of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League in July, batting 9 for 15 with one home run. He received the Most Valuable Player honor in the California League.

In the 2017 World Baseball Classic, Urías was selected to play for the Mexican national baseball team. He split his time between second base and shortstop while playing for the San Antonio Missions of the Class AA Texas League in 2017. He recorded a.296 batting average that year, along with three home runs, 38 RBIs, a.380 slugging percentage, and a.778 OPS.

Urías batted.208/.264/.354 with two home runs in 48 at-bats for the San Diego Padres in 2018. His season was cut short by a left hamstring injury on September 11.

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired Urías and Eric Lauer from the San Diego Padres on November 27, 2019, in exchange for Trent Grisham, Zach Davies, cash, and/or a player to be named later.

It was revealed that Urías tested positive for COVID-19 on July 6, 2020. Urías did not perform until August 10 as a result. Uras played in 41 games and hit.239/.308/.294 for the season.

Urías hit the first walk-off hit of his career versus Detroit Tigers reliever José Cisnero on May 31, 2021. Urías batted his way through the 2021 campaign.150 games, a slash line of 249/.345/.445 with 23 home runs and 75 RBIs.

He participated in 119 games for the Brewers in 2022, slashing 16 home runs and 47 RBI while hitting.239/.335/.404. Urías and the Brewers reached a one-year, $4.7 million contract on January 13, 2023, avoiding salary arbitration.

It was revealed on April 1 that Urías  had sustained a left hamstring injury on Opening Day and would be out for 6 to 8 weeks. Prior to the team’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds on June 5, he was activated.

On June 29, Urías was optioned to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds after posting a.145/.299/.236-hitting line over 20 games. Brice Turang was then brought up to take Uras’ place.

Urías was transferred to the Boston Red Sox on August 1st, 2023 in exchange for minor-league pitcher Bradley Blalock.
