Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar born 10 January 1976 is a Malaysian politician who has been serving as Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation since 10 March 2020. He served as the federal Minister of Youth and Sports from May 2013 to May 2018, as a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

Since 2008, he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rembau in Negeri Sembilan, and from 2009 to 2018, he was the Chief of UMNO’s youth wing.

Khairy spent some time working as a journalist after graduating from college. On the chat program Dateline Malaysia, he presented. In 1999, he also spent time working for The Economist.

Khairy later rose to the position of Special Officer in Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi’s office. From 2003 to 2004, he served as Abdullah’s deputy principal private secretary.

In place of Tengku Mahkota Pahang and Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, Khairy was elected without opposition as the Vice-President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) on September 9, 2007, to hold office from 2007 to 2010.
