Karen Bass Parents: Meet Wilhelmina Duckett And DeWitt Talmadge Bass – Karen Bass, a social worker and politician from the United States of America, was the first woman to be chosen as mayor of Los Angeles.

She has served as the 37th congressional district’s representative in California since 2011. The district, which encompasses a number of locations south and west of downtown Los Angeles, received the number 33 for her first term.

She previously served as a Democrat for six years, the last two as a speaker, in the California State Assembly. Bass ran and won the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election.

On September 27, 2021, Karen reportedly announced that she would run for mayor of Los Angeles in the 2022 election. Her campaign centered on finding solutions to the city of Los Angeles’ homelessness problem as well as dismantling homeless camps that were located close to playgrounds, parks, and beaches. On June 7, Bass won the primary with the most votes. In the November runoff, he was opposed by Rick Caruso.

Bass has worked to increase the flow of credit to small businesses so they can expand and create jobs, as well as to extend the research and development tax credit, which encourages innovation and job creation. He has also fought for tax breaks for small businesses to hire new employees.

The Local Hire Act, which would allow locals to be hired first for infrastructure projects in cities and counties, was also introduced by her. The rule led to the creation of new jobs in Los Angeles.

Bass and members of the Congressional Black Caucus introduced the Jobs and Justice Act of 2018, a comprehensive piece of legislation, in May 2018. It would promote social mobility for Black families and ensure equal protection under the law.

Bass won the title of Public Official of the Year in 2018 from the Los Angeles Stonewall Democratic Club. She supported the Equality Act in 2019, which outlaws discrimination against LGBTQ people in a number of areas, including housing, employment, education, credit, and financing.
