On September 6, 2021, Duncan’s grandmother filed a missing case of her mentally challenged grandson. Later, police discovered the skeleton of the missing man.

Duncan was 23 years old when he went missing. Lt. Paul Burch of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department said that they considered the case a homicide.

Joshua Duncan was 23 years old man when he went missing. Before he was lost, he was seen with a man named Dennis Hicks.

Duncan knew hicks through the church. He was 53 years old man who “is a person of interest.” When Duncan’s remains were discovered, Hicks was out on parole.

He was convicted of double homicide in Wayne County, Miss. Hicks, by that time, had served 25 years of sentence already in Mississippi. He shot and stabbed two victims.

After killing two-person, Hicks left their bodies in the trunk of the car. It was a remorseful incident that a person on parole could still commit serious crimes.

There are many criminals while on parole, commit more crimes, yet the police force or the whole team somehow seemed to fail to control this.

There must be more laws, those need to be enforced, to control the criminals who were convicted of serious crimes and let go out on parole. Hicks was arrested in November 2011.

The police identified him as the murderer of Duncan. He was accused of violating the parole and for murdering Duncan.

Where Is Dennis Hicks Today?

Dennis Hicks was sentenced to death, announced in January 2016. When Hicks didn’t have anything to say, he said to grant him the death penalty.

On August 6, 2019, Hicks was rescheduled to be sentenced. Circuit Court Judge John Lockett had Graddick as a special Judge to let him clarify his sentence order.

His current whereabouts are not known. However, his resentence rescheduled for August 2019 was the last update.

As per the investigators, Duncan’s body was stabbed and disemboweled. Hicks denied the charges and said he was instead helping Duncan to get better.

Hicks told that he had helped Duncan to be independent as he was mentally challenged and needed help. He rented a room for him, letting him work and teach him to drive.

In addition, he said, he never harmed Duncan, and he was 100 percent innocent. The investigator found three children present in the resident where Duncan was murdered.

Two of them testified the body. Hicks stabbed him and cut off his head and hands. The awful death of Duncan shocked everyone who hears his tragic death.
