Born on December 25, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Buffett was an American singer, songwriter, musician, author, and businessman.

As a singer, songwriter, and musician, Buffett was best known for his music, which often portrays an “island escapism” lifestyle.

Buffett began his musical career during the late 1960s and went ahead to release several studio albums throughout his career.

Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett recorded a number of hit songs including; Margaritaville, Come Monday, and Cheeseburger in Paradise.

He also released songs such as A Pirate Looks at Forty and Volcano. Apart from his career as a musician, he was also a bestselling author.

Buffett released a number of novels including; A Salty Piece of Land. He’s said to have also had two restaurant chains named after two of his signature songs

Buffett reportedly owned the Margaritaville Cafe restaurant chain and co-developed the Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant chain, which is now defunct.

The ‘Margaritaville’ musician and mogul died at 76 on Friday, 1 September 2023 according to a statement on his official website and social media pages.

“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music, and dogs,” the statement said.

“He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many,” it added.

The statement did not mention where Buffett died or give a cause of death. However, illness had forced him to reschedule concerts in May and Buffett acknowledged in social media posts that he had been hospitalized but provided no specifics.
