James Joyce Cause Of Death: How Did James Joyce Die?

Written by Olivia Owen — 0 Views

Joyce had surgery in Zürich on January 11, 1941, for a ruptured duodenal ulcer. The next day, he went into a coma.

On January 13, 1941, he awoke at 2 a.m. and asked a nurse to contact his wife and son. He died 15 minutes later, just than a month before his 59th birthday, while they were on their way.

Joyce, James Augustine Aloysius, was a novelist, short story writer, poet, and literary critic from Ireland.

Joyce is regarded as one of the most influential and prominent writers of the twentieth century, having contributed to the modernist avant-garde movement.

Ulysses (1922) by James Joyce is a classic work in which Homer’s Odyssey stories are replicated in a number of literary genres, most notably stream of consciousness.

The short story collection Dubliners (1914) and the novels A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916) and Finnegans Wake (1917) are among his other well-known works (1939).

Three collections of poetry, a play, correspondence, and occasional journalism are among Joyce’s other works.
