Iam Tongi Social Media: Iam Tongi is an 18-year-old singer who emerged as the winner of American Idol 2023.

Tongi is originally from Kahuku, a town in O’ahu, Hawaii, and is of Tongan, Samoan, and Irish descent.

He’s a senior at Decatur High School in Federal Way, Washington, outside of Seattle, where he and his family moved three years ago.

From his first audition, he won the judges’ hearts singing from his heart during the first round and impress viewers with his soulful style of singing.

In the grand finale of the 2023 American Idol, Iam Tongi delivered powerful renditions of Keith Urban’s “Making Memories of Us,” and “Cool Down,”.

He also performed a sentimental tribute to his late father titled “I’ll Be Seeing You.” Tongi also teamed up with James Blunt to perform “Monsters.”

During the grand finale, the 3 remaining contestants; Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, and Colin Stough wowed viewers with solo performances and duets with renowned artists.

The star-studded event had in attendance; Keith Urban, Kylie Minogue, Ellie Goulding, Lionel Richie, TLC, REO Speedwagon, Pitbull, and Lil Jon, among others.

After nearly a four-hour live performance-filled show, 18-year-old Iam Tongi from Kahuku claimed the title of “American Idol.

His victory at the 2023 American Idol on Sunday, May 21 makes him the first person from the Hawaiian Islands to win “American Idol.”

He is also the first Pacific Islander to win the singing competition show, per the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund.

Tongi is now ready to make his own music after the victory and a recording contract. This season’s American Idol is over but another one is officially on the way for 2024.
