How to transform your old flip flops into cute and comfy sandals
If you're tired of the same plastic flip flops you’ve been sporting and are in need for a little change, this sling sandal DIY is the answer to your summer shoe wardrobe dreams. All you need is some fabric, scissors and ten minutes to create a new pair of go-to kicks. Check out the step-by-step below!
What you’ll need:
- Pair of flip flops
- ¼ yard of stretch knit fabric
- Scissors
What you’ll do:
Step 1: Remove the top of the flip flops off with a pair of scissors so all you have left is the sole of the shoe.
Step 2: Cut two strips of fabric measuring 5” wide by 22” long. Cut another two strips measuring 5” wide and 11” long.
Step 3: Take one of the longer strips of fabric and fold it into third lengthwise. Wrap this piece around the back of your heel and tie a knot near your big toe.
Step 4: Push the excess fabric through the top hole of the flip flop sole. Flip the shoe over and tie a knot, pushing the knot into the indentation around the hole.
Step 5: Now, with one of the shorter strips of fabric, wrap it around the top of your foot and push excess into the holes on either side of your foot.
Step 6: Again, flip the shoe over and tie a knot, remembering to tuck the knot into the indentation.
Step 7: Repeat steps 3-6 on the other sole.
