Facts of Hope Catherine Kotb

Hope Catherine Kotb is the daughter of an Egyptian American broadcast journalist, television personality, and author named Hoda Kotb. Hope is still very young and lives with her parents.

Hoda is a multi-talented and successful woman. She is one of the most well-known faces in the journalism field as she has accomplished a lot. 

She currently works as the main co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today, and she also works as co-host of its entertainment-focused fourth hour. 

She first started her journey in 1986 and has not looked back since then. Hoda also writes books and has won numerous awards and nominations. 

She has also worked as a correspondent for the television news magazine program Dateline NBC in the past.

Marriage

Hope is still very young for marriage or even to start dating. So, there is no records of her love life.

Hoda is currently engaged to a man named Joel Schiffman, who works as a New York financier. They were dating for some time before getting engaged. 

They first started their relationship in 2013, and Hoda announced her engagement in her live show on Today on November 25, 2019. 

The adoption

Hoda again used her platform on the live broadcast show on Today that she was adopting a baby girl named Haley Joy Kotb on February 21, 2017.  

Later again, on April 16, 2019, in the same live show, she announced that she is adopting another baby girl named Hope Catherine Kotb. 

Before being in a relationship with Joel, Hoda had a husband named Burzis Kanga, a former tennis coach. They were married in 2005 and got divorced in 2008. 

Breast cancer

Hoda suffered from breast cancer in the past in March 2007. She had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She fought against breast cancer very bravely and made a full recovery. 

Hoda’s entire breast cancer journey was followed and covered by Today’s cameras. 

She has been working to spread awareness about breast cancer through her short documentary filmed throughout her whole journey. 

She has been spreading awareness as soon as she was declared cancer-free.

Muslim roots

As Hoda’s roots are from Egypt, she has a Muslim background, but her parents immigrated to the USA and gave her an American lifestyle. 

But when she went back to her roots in Egypt in the annual summer vacation, she met many of her cousins who looked just like her and wore headscarves and hijabs. 

Seeing this, she couldn’t stop thinking how she could be in that place if her parents didn’t give her American freedom and if they didn’t immigrate to the USA. 

She also talked about her Muslim background in her autobiography, in which she also described her relatives trying to match-make her back in Egypt. 

Fitting in

Hoda wrote in her autobiography that even though she was raised in the USA, she always had difficulty fitting in because she looked different than others around her.
