Barnes was selected as one of six players over-age for the England U18 team that entered the 2017 Toulon Tournament. Barnes made his debut as a substitute for Angola U20 on 29 May 2017. Barnes scored twice in a 7-1 victory over Cuba U20 on 1 June 2017. Barnes also scored a brace in the semi-final against Scotland U20 on 8 June 2017.
