Gordon Moore was born on January 3, 1929 in San Francisco, California, USA as Gordon E. Moore.

After completing his schooling at Sequoia High School, he enrolled in the San Jose State University, from which he moved to the University of California in Berkeley where he completed his B.Sc. degree in chemistry in 1950.

Moving on from there, he enrolled at the California Institute of Technology and earned his Ph.D. in chemistry with a minor in physics in 1954. He was engaged in postdoctoral research from 1953 to 1956, which he conducted at the John Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory located in Baltimore.

Though not so much is available about his childhood life, we’re aware that this American businessman had physics as a subject and also pursued studies in the discipline of chemistry. He took an immense interest in research work as a college student and later bagged a doctoral degree from the California Institute of Technology.
