After a career that was a mere 1-0, Meerschaert fought most of his fights within his home state of Wisconsin from 2007 until 2011, and then began traveling into other states for competition following the year 2012. He’s a seasoned fighter, with the rating of 24-8,0-0 prior joining UFC.

On the 12th of January in the 12th of January, 2008 Meerschaert took on Kenneth Allen and took the victory through the triangle choke in round one. Five weeks after, Meerschaert stepped in the cage and faced Caleb Krull and won by unanimous decision. The judges scored the three rounds (29-28 29, 29-28, 29 -27). With no rest, Meerschaert was back to the cage for a second time in for four weeks. This time, his opponent would be Alex Carter. In the second round, Meerschaert did manage to create the triangle choke and submit Carter. His final fight with Freestyle Combat was on May 3, 2008, in which Meerschaert was victorious by beating Ryan Scheeper through an amrbar submission.

Gerald Edward Meerschaert III (born on December 18th 1987) is an American mixed martial artist participating at the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. A professional fighter in 2007 and beyond, he previously competed with his clubs, the RFA, Titan FC, and King of the Cage. He was one of the previous RFA Middleweight Champion.
