The Barbey family owns 17% of publicly traded VF Corp, an apparel retailer with brands including Vans, The North Face, Timberland and Dickies.

Peter has long given his time to civic and charitable committees, currently including Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and Trinity Church Wall Street. Along with his wife, Pamela, and his son Matthew, he directs the Edwin Barbey Charitable Trust.

Mr. Barbey who was widely known in business circles, was chairman of the board of directors of the Vanity Fair Silk Mills and president and treasurer of Barbey's Inc. He was born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Peter and Rosina (Kuntz).
