Shortly after taking off from a fuel stop at Canyonlands Regional Airport in Grand County, Utah, close to Moab, he perished in a plane crash while flying between family in Scottsdale, Arizona, and his home in North Dakota.
Doug Larsen career
Larsen spent 29 years in the North Dakota Army National Guard. He mobilized twice, once for Washington, D.C. (2013–2014) and once for Iraq (2009–2010).
He oversaw the 112th Aviation Battalion when he held the position of major. At the time of his demise, he held the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Larsen was the owner of the house construction and development business Apex Builders as well as a Wingate by Wyndham hotel franchise in Bismarck, North Dakota. He had a real estate broker’s license as well.
In November 2020, Larsen won a seat in the North Dakota Senate, and he took office on December 1 of that same year. His district of election, District 34, includes Mandan.
