Alongside being a performer and musician, Spitz has been practicing law for a full time since 1999. He is an civil Trial attorney located in South Florida, and has his own law firm.

In addition, Dave is a second degree black belt (Nidan) in the traditional Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do. In his first karate class around the age 14 New York, Dave initially trained under U.S.A. Kata champion sensei Chuck Merriman, and fought in numerous karate events. After an era of Black Sabbath years, he continued his martial arts studies in California and was able to train with the top-ranked Goju-ryu practitioner worldwide sensei Morio Higaonna, president of the International Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate Do Federation. Spitz also trained and studied under the sensei Mel Pralgo, sensei Rodney Hu and the sensei Stan O’Hara, and sensei Miko Peled and was also given the distinction of being a Dai Senpai (highest class student in addition to an assistant instructor) for a number of years at the dojo of sensei Pralgo located in Thousand Oaks, California, before making the move into Florida in 1996 for law school.

Spitz was also an active member from Great White, having recorded the albums Psycho City and Let it Rock with the Californian hard rock group during the 90s. Spitz was a member of White Lion and on albums by Americade, Slamnation, Insomnia, Nuclear Assault, Purple Heart, Kuni, Deepset, War Pigs and others. He’s also a member of McBrain Damage, which includes Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain and also performs with this group whenever Nicko takes time off.
