In 2022, Mary was appointed a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour in the New Year Honours list.

Sadly, the renowned British fashion icon has died. She passed away at the age of 93 at her home in Surrey, UK on Thursday, April 13, 2023

A statement from her family said she “died peacefully at home in Surrey, UK this morning. She was one of the most internationally recognized fashion designers of the 20th Century and an outstanding innovator of the Swinging Sixties”.
