Clark Olofsson is a Swedish notorious criminal in the limelight for the wrong reasons. Being tagged as the first celebrity gangster in Sweden, he was involved in the Norrmalmstorg robbery.

Born Clark Oderth Olofsson, and later referred to as Daniel Demuynck, the famous criminal is one of the three children of his mother who worked as a cashier, and dad who was an asphalt worker. Unfortunately, both parents were addicted to alcohol. At age 11, Clark’s dad left them to their own faith with his mom falling sick and ending up at the psychiatric hospital, Lillhagens. As a result, Clark and his two younger sisters ended up in an orphanage home. He managed to flee from there and got himself enrolled in a sailors’ school. Eventually, he became a sailor and traveled around the world on the ship Ballade at the age of 14. He quit the job and returned home just after a year at a time when her mom had already recovered.

At the age of 16, the Swedish started engaging in social vices at a very young age and had spent time in and out behind bars due to that. He was engaged in hardcore robbery, hard drugs, murder, and assaults. Due to his involvement in these numerous illicit acts, he’s spent most of his life in prison until recently on July 30, 2018, when he became a freeman. It is therefore not surprising that he is recognized as a celebrity gangster in Sweden and the first of its kind. 

The 75-year-old notorious criminal is notable for his presence during the Norrmalmstorg robbery in 1973 which became the talk of the century for a very long time and brought about the introduction of the term Stockholm syndrome. The victims who were held hostage at the bank during the incident felt affectionate, a positive feeling for the captors. That feeling of affection gained by the victims towards the robbers is what is termed Stockholm syndrome. 

At the time of the robbery incident, the criminal Jan-Erik Olsson who was the one in control of the act got the helping hand of Clark. They used six days for the operation and in the end, the victims were passionate about the captors including Clarke for not being harmful towards them.
