Christopher Mitchum (born October 16, 1943) is an actor and politician from the United States. He was the second son of film actor Robert Mitchum and his wife Dorothy, and was born in Los Angeles, California. He is also actor James Mitchum’s younger brother. He has ran for public office in California three times, first for the California State Assembly in 1998, then for the United States House of Representatives in 2012 and 2014, both as a Republican. Mitchum, a former actor, featured in John Wayne’s flicks Chisum (1970), Rio Lobo (1970), and Big Jake (1971), as well as Last Hard Men (1976) and Tombstone (1993), and acted in over 60 films in 14 nations.  He received the Photoplay Gold Medal Award in 1971, was named one of the top five stars of the future by Box Office magazine, and has won both The Golden Horse Award (Chinese Academy Award, 1981–1982) and The Golden Reel, Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a Leading Role in a (1988, Indonesia). Since 1978, he has been a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. From 1983 to 1989, he served on the SAG Board of Directors for two three-year periods, two of which he served as the National 1st Vice President. From 1998 to 2000, he was a member of the Republican Central Committees in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Bentley Mitchum, Carrie Mitchum, Jennifer Mitchum, and Kian Mitchum are his children. Cappy Van Dien, Grace Van Dien, Allexanne Mitchum, Carrington Mitchum, and Wyatt Mitchum Cardone are his grandchildren.
