Moyles attended Mount St. Mary’s Catholic High School for his education. He started his broadcasting career at WBHS (Wakefield’s Broadcast to Hospitals Service), a hospital radio station in West Yorkshire city, while still in school.

After graduating from WBHS, Moyles worked as DJ Carl Kingston’s assistant at the neighborhood radio station Aire FM. In the Leeds Briggate department of Radio Top Shop at the time, he was also a presenter.
