Charles Matthew Hunnam is an English actor. He is best known for his role as Jax Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy (2008–2014). Hunnam was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, to Jane Bell, a ballet dancer and business owner, and William Hunnam.

Hunnam began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in television shows such as Byker Grove and Queer as Folk. He made his film debut in 2002 with Nicholas Nickleby. Hunnam’s breakthrough role came in 2008, when he was cast as Jax Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy. The show ran for seven seasons and was a critical and commercial success.

Other notable works: Hunnam has starred in several other films, including Pacific Rim (2013), Crimson Peak (2015), The Lost City of Z (2016), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), and The Gentlemen (2019). He is also the co-author of the novel “Mortal Engines” (2001), which was adapted into a film in 2018.
