C.J. Harris developed a love for music at a very younger age and at age 8, he started learning how to play the guitar which was gifted to him by his grandfather who he (C.J.) spent his summer holidays assisting.

He’s known for his appearance on American Idol. The first American Idol audition Harris attended was in 2010 before placing 6th on the 13th season of the series in 2014. He auditioned unsuccessfully for The X-Factor and The Voice.

After his time on American Idol, he reunited with Darius Rucker for a performance at The Grand Ole Opry and participated in American Idol’s season 13 tour. They also performed at the 2014 Foothills Festival in his hometown of Jasper.

Harris was also an instrumentalist who played guitar as well as piano and released his debut single, ‘In Love’ in 2019. He died at a hospital in Jasper, Alabama, on January 15, 2023, at the age of 31. Unconfirmed reports say that C.J. Harris’s cause of death was a heart attack.
