Born Robert Gordon Orr, in March of 1948, Bobby Orr is better known by his nickname, Bobby Orr. Throughout his ice hockey career, Orr played for the National Hockey League (NHL) for various teams. He played 10 seasons with the Boston Bruins, before transferring to the Chicago Black Hawks for another two seasons. For his natural abilities, Orr is often said to be one of the most talented hockey players to date. He is also known for his incredible skating speed, scoring ability, and for revolutionizing the position of defenceman. Since retiring, he started working as a scout for various professional teams, as well as working as a mentor for young skaters. In 1979, he was voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, at the age of 31. At the time he was the youngest player to be inducted into the prestigious hall. Orr married Margaret Louise “Peggy” Wood in 1973 after having met on vacation. The couple has two sons, Darren and Brent, and two grandchildren, Alexis and Robert. Their son Darren also works in professional hockey, serving as a player’s agent.
