Ant Anstead is an English television presenter, motor specialist, car builder, designer, and artist, best known for co-presenting the Channel 4 automotive show For the Love of Cars with Philip Glenister.

In 2017 Ant Anstead took over from Edd China as co-host of the show Wheeler Dealers, alongside Mike Brewer. He started his own television production company in 2014, producing his own show The World’s Most Expensive Cars.

Ant Anstead won two awards for bravery during his police career. In 2005, he left the police force to pursue a career as an automaker. He began building and restoring cars for his clients, building recreational and one-off automobiles.

Ant Anstead was born in Plymouth, Devon, England and lived in Ely, Cambridgeshire until he was ten years old, when he moved with his family to Hertfordshire. He was educated at the Richard Hale School in Hartford, and later completed his A-Levels at the nearby Haileybury School.

Ant Anstead joined the Hertfordshire Police in 1999 and was initially based in Bishop’s Stortford. He moved to the Cheshunt Police Department and later became a member of the Welwyn Garden City Tactical Firearms Team (TFU). Ant Anstead won two awards for his bravery during his police career.

In 2005, Ant Anstead left the police force to pursue a career as an automaker. He began building and restoring cars for his clients, building recreational and one-off automobiles. Ant Anstead has played semi-professional football for over 15 years and has achieved over 700 matches at his compatriot level. He converted from goalkeeper to forward, becoming the only player to win promotion to the Lymans at both positions.

Ant Anstead founded his own television production company in 2014 and produced his own show, The World’s Most Expensive Cars. In 2014, he was asked to co-host a new car show on Channel 4 with British actor Philip Glenister. Ant Anstead has since hosted a number of television shows, including in 2015 co-hosting BBC Two’s live show Building Cars Live with James May and Kate Humble.

Ant Anstead has hosted live stages at many UK car shows, as well as after-dinner and motivational talks at schools and charities. In the 2019 TV show Ant Anstead Master Mechanic, Ant Anstead hand-crafts homages to the Alfa Romeo 158 using components ranging from spare parts to donor cars. On the show, Ant Anstead collaborates with various automotive industry luminaries and subject matter experts.

In addition to being a master mechanic, Ant Anstead is also part of the new “World’s Greatest Cars” series. At the new show, a jury of automotive experts will reveal five of the greatest sports cars of all time. Cars are judged for their iconic design and groundbreaking performance. In 2017, Ant Anstead replaced Eddie China as co-host of the Wheeler Dealers.

Ant Anstead has a daughter and a son with his first wife, Louise. They divorced in 2017. He has been dating American television personality Christina Haak since October 2017. On December 22, 2018, they were married at their home in Newport Beach, California. A son, Hudson, was born in September 2019. The couple separated in September 2020 and divorced the following year.

In April 2021, seven months after his breakup with Haak, he began dating American actress Renée Zellweger. Ant Anstead is a patron of the Harrison Foundation, a charity that supports research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
