Charlotte Rannells and Ronald Rannells are the parents of American actor, Andrew Rannell. Ronald died in 2001 at the age of 62. They have five other children.

Andrew once shared that he has known he is gay since high school. According to him, he first came out to his family when he was just 18 years old, but he stated that everyone knew his sexual orientation at that time, therefore, they were not surprised.

As a child, he took classes at the Emmy Gifford Children’s Theatre and performed at the Omaha Community Playhouse and the Firehouse Dinner Theatre, as well as the Dundee Dinner Theatre.

He made his first appearance in a play when he was 11 years old. He did community theatre with fellow Omahan and Creighton Prep alumnus Conor Oberst. He also did several voice-over work and commercials including Grease spoof with Amy Adams in 1996.

Andrew moved to New York in 1997 after high school to study theatre at Marymount Manhattan College for two years.
